ANDREW J. PLANTINGA (University of California Santa Barbara) - Keynote Speaker

Andrew J. Plantinga is Professor in the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He completed a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California-Berkeley. His current research focuses on the economics of land use, climate change, and forests. Particular emphasis is given to the development of methods for econometrically modeling land-use decisions, the analysis of environmental policies that affect private land-use decisions, and the modeling of land development pressures. Andrew Plantinga is also the director of the Productive Landscapes Group at the UCSB Environmental Markets Lab (emLab).

 KRISTIAN BEHRENS (Université du Québec à Montréal) - Keynote Speaker

Kristian Behrens is Professor of Economics at the Université du Québec in Montréal. He completed a Ph.D. in Regional and Urban Economics at the Université de Bourgogne. His current research interests include the theoretical and empirical topics in urban and regional economics and in particular in issues of geographic concentration and segregation, the models of imperfect competition, and international and interregional trade. Kristian Behrens is also a research fellow of the CEPR and academic advisor of HSE's Center for Market Studies and Spatial Economics.

MARZENA ROSTEK (University of Wisconsin-Madison) - Keynote Speaker

Marzena Rostek is the Juli Plant Grainger Distinguished Chair of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After earning her B.A. and M.S. degrees in Europe, she received her Ph.D. from Yale University (2006) and was a postdoctoral research fellow at Nuffield College at Oxford University (2007/8). Her research focuses on market design, with a special emphasis on the effects of market fragmentation and the strategic behavior of large players. Marzena Rostek currently serves as an editor of the Journal of Economic Theory and an associate editor of Econometrica, Economic Theory, Economic Theory Bulletin, and the Journal of Economic Literature. She is a member of the Finance Theory Group and a SAET Fellow.

OLIVIER GARNIER (Banque de France) - Keynote Speaker

Olivier Garnier is the Managing Director of the Banque de France, where he supervises statistics, economic and monetary studies, and international relations. He is notably a member of the Eurosystem's Monetary Policy Committee and of various international committees (BIS, OECD, etc.). Before joining the Banque de France in 2017, he held various positions at the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance, the US Federal Reserve and within the Société Générale Group. Since June 2021, he is the President of the French Economic Science Association (AFSE). He is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique, the E.N.S.A.E, and the University of Paris-Dauphine.

GIANFRANCO PIRAS (The Catholic University of America) - Special Guest

Gianfranco Piras is an associate professor of economics at The Catholic University of America and associate professor of applied econometrics at the University of Chieti-Pescara. His research interests include spatial econometrics and statistics, urban and regional economics, computational methods and software development. He is one of the developers of the R software for statistical computing and he is currently working on a few libraries including sphet, splm, spregimes, and spldv.
